Nambas & Nasara Experience Package
5 Days/4 Nights - North East Malekula
This scenic package is perfect for those who want to experience the cultural diversity of the Big and Small Nambas tribes while enjoying the beauty of Malekula's smaller off-shore islands staying at three different bungalows - each with their own distinctive coastal ambiance. En route to Vao Mainland visit historic sites to see the remains of victims of cannibalism scattered next to the ‘cannibal kitchen’ and the skulls of chiefs inside their stone graves. From Tam Tam Bungalows experience the Small Nambas Hone Vaghal and watch their ceremonial dances in traditional Small Nambas dress. Then take a boat to beautiful Wala Island, with its golden sand beach and crystal clear waters, and visit a Nasara to wonder at the monolithic pig counting stones moved by manpower (and magic) before going snorkeling. Your coastal cultural package concludes with a visit to the small community of Mae – home to a group of the Big Nambas tribe. Admire their unique pink costumes and learn about their culture through a collection of stories and dances.
5 days and 4 nights including breakfasts staying at Tam Tam Bungalows, Nawori Seaview Bungalows and Ameltoro Bungalows. Please note that lunch and dinner are not included in the package price (except when trekking) and are to be paid for directly.
